The Oscar-winning star of numerous films and theatre hits passed away peacefully at King Edward VII Hospital in Midhurst, West Sussex; Sir Alec had been in ill-health for a number of years and had battled against chronic glaucoma and cataracts. Guinness is probably best known for playing the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in 1977's Starwars. He is pictured here in 1988.
