The gap allows service vehicles to drive "into" the boring machine to deliver equipment and supplies as the machine continues to cut it's way through the Chiltern hills without having to stop. The boring machine has currently drilled two and a half kilometres into a projected 16km tunnel. 01.12.2021 Material must be credited "The Times/News Licensing" unless otherwise agreed. 100% surcharge if not credited.
