INDIA-FESTIVAL-ISLAND-PILGRIMS-WET CLOTHES

Indian Hindu pilgrims carry wet clothes after they went for a holy dip on Sagar Island, 13 January 2004 some 150 kms south of Calcutta. Thousands of pilgrims are gathering on the island to attend West Bengal's largest festival, the Gangasagar Mela, during which a dip in the ocean where the Ganga drains into the sea is considered to be of great religious significance.
