Mar. 03, 1966 - Salvation Army heroine foils bandits.: Salvation Army Major Marion Dunn yesterday cycled slap-b and into a wage snatch outside Barclay's Bank in Bow, London, yesterday. As she cycled home with Mrs. Eileen Chandler, her cub-mistress friend, Major dunn saw three men leap from a car. The men attacked and coshed 57-year old company director Mr. Samuel Peters and his son, Andrew, who had just left the bank with a £1500 payroll. Then the Salvation Army (motto: Blood and Fire) went into action. With a cry, and only her bicycle for ammunition Major Dunn pitched into the fight against sin. ''You'' she warned the thugs, Major Dunn and Mrs. Chandler jammed the pavement with their cycles. Housewives formed an additional barrier along the kerbside to trap the men. Then a lorry driver pulled up, jumped form his cab and felled one of the men. Another man was caught in a chase, but a third escaped.
