CHINA TAIZHOU MING DYNASTY MUMMY

Taizhou 2011-03-01 Chinese archaeologists, reporters and onlookers look at the excavation site of a tomb from the Ming Dynasty in Taizhou city, east Chinas Jiangsu province, 1 March 2011. A female mummy from the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) was located by chance in the city of Taizhou in east Chinas Jiangsu Province, reported the official Xinhua news agency. The body, found during work to expand a local road, was found with two other wooden coffins, more than two meters deep, which also belong to the Ming Dynasty. Chinese archaeologists were surprised by the good condition of the skin, hair, eyelashes and face of the mummy. The body, 1.5 meters tall, was immersed in a brown liquid inside a coffin.
